Fiat specialist Griffin Mill sponsors Wales’ premier fashion event
CARDIFF Fashion Week (CFW), the premier fashion event in Wales, is running until November 4. Sponsored by Griffin Mill Fiat, it is a celebration of fashion showcasing the very best design talent and retail offering of Wales.
The South Wales-based Fiat specialist has chosen to support the week to showcase the Fiat 500 range, a bold and seductive car which marks its 60th anniversary this year.
Mark Pardoe, managing director of Griffin Mill, said: “The Fiat 500 is a very fashion-forward car. It’s modern, quirky in appearance and is loved by the younger market. We think it’s a great fit with the design and creativity of Cardiff Fashion Week.”
The Fiat 500’s will be on display at a number of Cardiff Fashion Week’s key events including the catwalk shows and designer village at Cardiff Masonic Hall on Saturday, November 4. Also, taking part in the day will be a series of emerging and established designers from across Wales including Sunshine Soul, a knitwear brand focused on the young market, and Luna Amani, a Cardiff-based accessory designer specialising in handbags, which are using the event as a platform to showcase their collections to a wider audience.
A number of academic institutions – including Coleg Sir Gâr in Carmarthen, the University of South Wales in Cardiff and Cardiff & Vale College – are also backing the event to showcase the talent of their students and graduates.
Ty Hafan is the official charity for Cardiff Fashion Week 2017 and there are a number of CFW initiatives supporting the cause. These have included a ‘Dolled-up Day’ for businesses across Wales during October and a ‘Charity Shop Designer Contest’ where aspiring designers have had the opportunity to customise a bag of charity shop clothes which will be auctioned off at the designer village.
Paula Abbandonato and Wenda James Rowe are the directors of Cardiff Fashion Week.
Paula said: “Cardiff Fashion Week is a platform to celebrate all that is great about Welsh fashion and design. We’ll see a mix of aspiring designers and established professionals rub shoulders with top fashion academics and retailers.”
Wenda James Rowe, also from Cardiff Fashion Week, said: “We are creating a very inclusive week for everyone who is interested in fashion, beauty and styling. Our aim is to become one of the leading regional fashion weeks in the UK, providing Welsh design talent with a unique marketing opportunity on their doorstep.”
