YOURS School bids to win £25k for a new playground

-

OLDCASTLE Primary School is a finalist in the Aviva Community Fund with a chance of winning up to £25,000 towards a new playground.

The Aviva Community Fund gives out funding to local projects that are making a positive change in their community.

Oldcastle Primary have applied for funding in the health and wellbeing category with the aim of developing its current playground space into a multiuse games area for all the children.

Headteacher Jeremy Malessa Thompson said: “Our playground is in desperate need of an overhaul.

“We would like to be able to create a multi-use games area for a whole range of sports and other activities.

“The school playground is a focal point in our school. However the hard surface does not allow us to utilise the facility area as much as we would like.

“If successful we would use the funding to redesign the playground into areas that would enable more of our children to participate in sports activities and outdoor learning opportunities.”

In order for Oldcastle Primary to win Aviva funding, the public have to cast their votes for the project.

Anyone can vote at www.avivacommunityfund.co.uk or www.avivacommunityfund.co.uk/voting/project/ view/17-2776

Voting takes place until November 21.
