Historic Welsh primary school up for auction
A SCHOOL and its grounds are being sold off at auction – and could be transformed into luxury housing.
The former Llantrisant Welsh Primary School is going under the hammer with a guide price of around £285,000.
Auctioneers said the stone-built school and extensive playground area is attracting strong interest from prospective buyers ahead of next month’s sale.
Sean Roper, of Newport-based Paul Fosh Auctions, who is handling the sale, said: “The former school is in a good location and would be an ideal property for a developer or property speculator to buy.
“I have already shown a number of interested parties around the former school building and grounds.
“The school and grounds have planning permission for the construction of eight residential apartments and two detached houses.
“The former Welsh school is situated in an elevated position within the town and has wonderful views across the adjoining countryside.
“The town of Llantrisant is ideally situated for access to the M4 and Cardiff with nearby Talbot Green benefiting from an excellent range of shops at the retail park.”
Mr Roper said the building a has a traditional layout including a central corridor, classrooms and former amenities.
The former playground area surrounds the building.
The property is due to be auctioned on December 7 at The Park Inn Hotel, Circle Way East, Llanedeyrn, Cardiff, starting at 5pm.
