OLYMPIAN Sir Chris Hoy will be riding into Cardiff’s City Hall in December to introduce his new book to young readers.

Team GB’s most successful Olympic athlete Chris Hoy, along with awardwinni­ng co-author Joanna Nadin and illustrato­r Clare Elsom, will take kids on a fantastica­lly fun, magical cycling adventure to explore the enchanting world of Flying Fergus through teamwork, creativity and a whole lot of action. He will introduce his new book from his series for young readersn – Flying Fergus 7: The Wreck It Race – as well as mark the launch the 2018 Cardiff Children’s Literature Festival programme.

The festival, spread over two weeks from April 21 – 29, celebrates the very best in contempora­ry children’s books, with events in both Welsh and English.

You can fuel your little bookworm’s imaginatio­n and love of reading this Christmas by buying tickets to see their favourite authors and illustrato­rs as they make their words and pictures come to life.

Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure, Coun Peter Bradbury said: “Now in its sixth year, this event goes from strength to strength, captivatin­g young readers. With a varied and exciting programme of events during the two week festival, there is something to inspire and engage children of all ages, promoting the love of books and reading.”

People are encouraged to book tickets as early as possible to avoid disappoint­ment.

What’s the book about? Flying Fergus, published on November 16, is an action-packed series of cycling adventures featuring nine year old Fergus Hamilton and his friends as he travels back and forth to a parallel universe called Nevermore, where cycling is banned and his dad is trapped by the evil King Woebegot.
