YOUR PETS Westies just love trips to the beach

Pets’ names: Morgan, Toby and Megan. Breed: All West Highland White Terrier. Ages: Morgan is 14, Toby is 12 and Megan is seven. Owner: Kate Brittain, 39, an aircraft cleaner at Cardiff Airport, from Barry.

Owner’s story: “I love Westies, I just think they are the most cute and loving dogs ever. They all love each other to bits actually, they all get on fine now.

“Morgan was a birthday present to me from an ex-boyfriend, and I had always loved Westies as my grandmother had them when I was young so I always wanted one.

“So when I was 25 in the October I had my first one, they are so adorable.

“Morgan is 14 now, he’s got his health conditions but he’s still doing well. We had him from about eight weeks old, and we absolutely spoilt him.

“We ruined him, so he’s like a baby now and I probably did over-baby him. He’s even got little outfits that he wears and he’s got a little buggy that we take him around in as he can’t walk quite as good now.

“Toby was from a friend and was about eight months old when I had him. He did have a bit of toilet trouble at first as he kept wanting to cock his leg up everywhere but he soon learnt from Morgan to go outside.

“All of them are like my babies to me. Because I can’t have children myself, they mean absolutely everything to me.

“They all love going to the beach for walks. Toby loves swimming and at the beach he will just go straight in all the way, so you can imagine the state of my car afterwards.

“Megan is definitely more of a lap dog, she likes to be constantly smoothed and cuddled and have all of the attention.”
