Dad of two dies in M4 tragedy

A FA­THER OF TWO has died af­ter be­ing “struck by a num­ber of ve­hi­cles” on the M4.

Tony Pem­ber­ton, 29, from the Pyle area of Brid­gend, died in the ac­ci­dent be­tween junc­tion 35 Pen­coed and junc­tion 36 Sarn shortly be­fore 9pm on Sat­ur­day, Novem­ber 11.

In a mov­ing trib­ute to him, his fam­ily said: “Tony was well-loved by all of his fam­ily and friends.

“He was the fa­ther to two young girls whom he loved dearly.

“He was al­ways the joker, high on life and there was never a dull mo­ment when you were in his com­pany.

“He will be sorely missed by his fam­ily and friends.”

The M4 was closed in both di­rec­tions for a num­ber of hours fol­low­ing the in­ci­dent.

The road had ini­tially only been closed in a west­bound di­rec­tion, but both car­riage­ways were later sealed off at around 9.30pm.

In a state­ment, South Wales Po­lice ap­pealed for any wit­nesses or peo­ple with dash cam footage to come for­ward.

A spokes­woman for the force said: “We are con­tin­u­ing to ap­peal for any­one who wit­nessed the in­ci­dent or has dash­cam footage to call us on 101 quot­ing ref­er­ence num­ber 1700439235.”
