Bay 10k run gets the go-ahead

ONE of the city’s most popular runs will return in March next year.

The date for the Brecon Carreg Cardiff Bay 10k run has been announced.

Around 6,000 runners will take-on an unchanged course around the Welsh capital’s historic Bay on March 25, 2018.

Spaces are expected to sell-out for the second year running.

Run 4 Wales chief executive Matt Newman said: “The Brecon Carreg Cardiff Bay Run has become one of the most popular events on the Run 4 Wales calendar, offering runners a perfect opportunit­y to takeon their first 10K or set a new personal best on an iconic course around the Bay.

“The popular race will kick off the Run 4 Wales 10K series in 2018. Keen runners now have the opportunit­y to take on a trio unique events in three of South Wales’ most iconic settings and we are looking forward to delivering another year of firstclass running events.”

The route takes in all of Cardiff Bay’s most iconic landmarks, starting and finishing in Roald Dahl Plass and passing the Wales Millennium Centre, Mermaid Quay, the Pierhead Building, Senedd, Porth Teigr and the Cardiff Bay Barrage. Brecon Carreg has become title sponsor.

Brecon Carreg’s Jenna Bissell said: “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Run 4 Wales at the Brecon Carreg Cardiff Bay Run. 2018 will see the brand celebratin­g its 40th anniversar­y and this event will form part of the celebratio­ns.

“Running events are a fantastic opportunit­y to encourage and inspire adults and children to do a fun and healthy activity together.”

Race entries go on sale on Tuesday before 1,000 season tickets are released on Thursday.

Entries open on Tuesday or on Thursday, a season ticket for three different 10k runs is opened.
