Catfish get set to rock the castle

-

CARDIFF CASTLE will host its latest gig next summer – with Welsh charttoppers Catfish and the Bottlemen set to rock the ramparts.

When the anthemic indie rock band take to the landmark stage, it will mark an impressive six-year rise for the band.

They have toured at ever-larger Cardiff venues in recent years: Gwdihw in 2012; Four Bars in 2013; Cardiff University in 2015; and Cardiff Motorpoint Arena this year – before playing their biggest show yet in the Welsh capital on Sunday, July 29, next year.

The huge show, announced yesterday, has been arranged to meet the growing clamour for tickets that led to sell-out shows earlier this year at London’s Finsbury Park and Don Valley Bowl in Sheffield.

Their 8,500 capacity Cardiff gig will see them take their place among the Welsh rock greats who have graced the castle including Stereophonics, Tom Jones and Manic Street Preachers.

Admitting to being happily of “no fixed abode” due to near constant touring and recording since 2014, when now platinum-certified debut album The Balcony was released, Catfish and The Bottlemen’s eagerly anticipated UK tour announcement follows a nine-month break since their last shows.

The last 18 months has seen the band claim their place as a bona fide arena band at home, adding dates at Wembley Arena to their impressive list of gigs, and also fully establish themselves as live favourites in South and North America, Japan and Australia.

The Cardiff Castle date should see them playing a raft of new material to follow their 2016 gold-status UK number one album The Ride.

Tickets for the Cardiff Castle show go on sale at 10am tomorrow.

A maximum of four tickets will be available per person. The name of the lead booker will be printed on each ticket. Tickets are available from www. catfishandthebottlemen.com and www.ticketmaster.co.uk
