BABIES Life is complete with baby Dimitri

-

Baby’s name: Date and place of birth: August 23 at 5.49pm at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. Weight: 6lb 7oz. Parents: Mum Cheryl Mardon, 35, and dad Nathan Sims, 28, a plasterer, from Fairwater, Cardiff. Mum’s story: “Dimitri is my third child, and the pregnancy was absolutely fine. I didn’t have any morning sickness, just heartburn.

“He was born with a full head of hair too so that myth is true.

“The actual labour was horrendous. I was induced two weeks early and it was really painful.

“Before that I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and it was when I was due to have an operation that I found out I was pregnant.

“I then miscarried, and it was Dimitri MardonSims. when I was due to have a different operation that I fell pregnant with Dimitri over Christmas last year.

“It has absolutely been the most crazy year and a half.

“I was induced at 9pm and then I had Dimitri at 5.49pm the next day.

“I went from being 2cm dilated to 10cm dilated in about two minutes so it was very painful.

“They promised me an epidural but it was too late, so all I ended up having was some gas and air.

“After all that I was let out around two hours after having him. Everything was fine afterwards.

“My two other little ones were over the moon to see him, and they came up the hospital so they held him afterwards.

“My seven-year-old daughter is like little mother hen with him. She loves picking him up and pushing him around in the pram.

“Dimitri didn’t have a name for about four weeks because we just couldn’t decided on a name.

“Then we went on a date down the Bay, the first time we had been out since having him, for some food and one of Nathan’s old friends was there and he said his name was Dimitri and I just looked at him and thought ‘that’s the name.’

“So a couple of days later we went and had it registered.

“He did have colic really bad for a good while, but he’s doing well now and he sleeps right through.

“My life feels complete now. I am so content with everything, it’s brilliant. It’s just so much fun and I feel like I’ve got so much energy. Life is good.”
