Sleek and slinky pair celebrating slimming success
A SLIMMING duo are looking forward to a fabulous new year after celebrating losing almost 11st between them.
Gemma Miles, who has lost 5st 12.5lb, was voted Aberdare Slimming World group’s Miss Slinky 2017, and Chris Jones, who has lost 5st, was named the group’s Mr Sleek 2017 after their fellow members were wowed by their achievements.
Both Gemma and Chris said they were “thrilled” to win their respective titles.
Gemma, 32, who has dropped from a dress size 20/22 to a size 14, said: “I was already really looking forward to this Christmas and feeling glamorous enough to wear the outfits I’ve been dreaming of.
“Winning the title of Miss Slinky means I have even more to celebrate and I know this festive season will be extra special.”
Chris, 70, added: “Being voted for by the other members of the group is really great because it’s thanks to them and their support – and our consultant Stephanie – that we’ve stayed committed to losing the weight that we have.
“As a man, joining a slimming group was a big decision and very nerve-racking, but I can honestly say it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.”
According to the company, the pair began following Slimming World’s Food Optimising healthy eating plan, which encourages members to satisfy their appetite on healthy foods like fruit and vegetables, pasta, rice, potatoes, lean meat and fish.
Stephanie Williams, who runs the Aberdare Slimming World group which Gemma and Chris attend, said she was “extremely proud” of both slimmers.
She explained: “Christmas is a time of year for getting dressed up and having a good time.
“However, when people are overweight they often dread it because they feel uncomfortable and out of place at parties – that’s if they don’t make an excuse to avoid socialising altogether.
“This year I know Gemma and Chris will feel completely different from previous years.
“I hope they’ll be accepting every invitation they receive and showing off their gorgeous new figures with poise and assurance – they definitely live up to their new titles of Miss Slinky and Mr Sleek in my eyes.”
Stephanie added: “Anyone who has been inspired by the Aberdare Slimming World group’s Miss Slinky and Mr Sleek is welcome to join us at Aberdare RFC every Monday at 9am and 11am.”
