YOUR PETS Scaredy cat Lola is actually a male

-

Name: Lola. Age: Two. Breed: Moggie. Owner: Lucy Langmead, 36, a civil servant from Tonteg, Pontypridd. Owner’s story: “My children chose the name Lola because we thought he was a she but obviously over time we could see he was turning into a boy.

“By that time he already knew his name so we kept calling him Lola. Poor boy!

“We had him from a friend. My old cat, Sam, sadly passed away about six years ago and I missed having a cat, as did my three children.

“When we had Lola, they loved him straight away.

“They’re actually frightened of him now, though, as he’s so unpredictable.

“I missed my old cat so much, I’d always had cats and wanted to get another.

“I waited until my youngest son was about three before making the decision to get another.

“I have three boys so had a lot on my plate and I couldn’t commit to a kitten until my children were older, but I had been without a cat for three years by then so when a friend said her cat had a litter, I jumped at the chance.

“I chose the quietest little kitten there but that quiet little kitten has turned into the larger-than-life Lola!

“We don’t have any other cats but we have a 12-year-old Labrador called Mac.

“Mac loves Lola but the love is not reciprocated – Lola hates everyone.

“Lola’s favourite food is Sheba, he’s very spoilt, and he loves a bag of Dreamies.

“This cat literally eats anything, he’ll scavenge from plates and the dog’s dish but the only thing Lola won’t eat is cheap cat food, not even if he’s starving.

“He’s a house cat but he’s very clean and likes his own space. He can’t be trained though. He’s a rascal.

“He’s broken lots of things in the house, he’s scagged carpets and he loves nothing more than attacking me with his claws and teeth. Aside from that, he’s a dream.

“As much as Lola probably dislikes me, I love him.

“Lola has a lot of followers on Facebook, I take lots of funny pictures of him in various poses and everybody loves to see them.

“His favourite thing is sleeping in his wok on top of my kitchen cupboard, cwtched up in his Welsh flag. He really is a star.

“Lola doesn’t go outside but when he does sneak out, everything frightens him. Birds, stones, cars, bins – he is a proper scaredy cat.

“He’s also frightened of deodorants being sprayed and the vacuum cleaner.”
