YOUR PETS Matilda is just paw-some at giving high fives

-

Pet’s name: Matilda Ennis. Age: Nine months. Breed: Domestic short hair cat. Owners: Samantha Ennis, 32, an Admiral Insurance worker, and Rachel Long, 27, an NHS manager, from Roath, Cardiff. Owner’s story: “We’ve had Matilda since July and she was a rescue cat. She was 11 weeks old when we had her.

“We had Matilda from a place in Bridgend called Cats Protection and they were absolutely brilliant.

“I had cats growing up and I bought a house just over a year ago so I could finally have a pet.

“She’s still a little bit kitten-ish and a bit crazy because she’s still quite young.

“Sometimes it’s like she forgets she’s even a cat. She is very inquisitive and curious with everything.

“I guess it’s a bit like having a baby when you first have a cat. It was a little bit of hard work to begin with.

“It’s a big responsibility and she would wake up in the night sometimes.

“So from that point of view it was hard work, but it is all definitely worth it. And we’ve trained her to do a high five!

“She’s pretty low maintenance now really. She’s settled in really well to the house, it just took her a couple of days to find her feet.

“Matilda is obsessed with bags and boxes and jumping in the bath – obviously when there’s no water in there.

“She did jump up once when there was water in there but luckily I managed to stop her before she did!

“She’s just really curious with everything but she does love bags and boxes. When we do our shopping she loves it.

“I love her and I love having a cat around. It really does brighten up the place by having her around.”
