BOUQUET OF THE WEEK Brownies leader is devoted volunteer
A VOLUNTEER who signed up to help out a Brownies and Rainbows group for a fortnight ended up staying on for an astonishing 35 years.
Judith Hunt, 67, who volunteers as the Brownies and Rainbows leader and also at Barry’s RNLI and Rotary Club, was nominated for a Bouquet of the Week by her daughter-in-law Julia Hunt.
Judith, from Wenvoe, offered to give a helping hand at Brownies and Rainbows for two weeks but the girls of the club begged her to stay.
Along with being a leader, the grandmother of five has also been volunteering and fundraising for Barry’s RNLI Club for the past 25 years and has been a part of the Rotary Club for 27 years.
Julia said: “Judith is such a deserving winner.
“She does so much for everyone, she’s an absolute star.’’
She added: “She loves helping the children of Barry and is an amazing grandmother.’’
Judith also gives a helping hand at the office of her family-run engineering business.
Judith said she was “thrilled” to be nominated for Bouquet of the Week.
She said: “I was only supposed to stay at the Brownies for two weeks but they begged me to stay with them and so I did. I wouldn’t change it for the world.
“I will always help out in anyway I can, I love doing it.”
