-

SNOW is forecast to fall in Cardiff and parts of Wales on Sunday – and there could be 2cm of snow in the capital.

It is also set to feel a lot colder with temperatures and in the wind could feel like -7°C in Cardiff.

The Met Office has extended a yellow warning for snow to include eastern parts of the country.

The weather front that is coming in from Siberia has been nicknamed Beast From The East 2, and comes two weeks after more than 55cm of snow fell in parts of Wales.

Although it feels like we should be moving into spring by now, there have been forecasts of up to 2cm of snow in the city.

It will also turn colder over the weekend, with hard frosts. The wind will be strong too, with gales likely at times.

Welsh weatherman Derek Brockway said: “The latest Arpege model predicts up to 2cm of snow in the city. Powdery snow.”

The Met Office warnings says: “Snow showers are likely to continue throughout Sunday, and where these converge some snow may well accumulate and could then prove disruptive.

“There is a small chance that snow may fall for a longer period across southern, and particularly south eastern regions for a time on Sunday. There is a chance of travel delays on roads with some stranded vehicles, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel. There is a chance that power cuts will occur and services, such as mobile phone, may be affected.

“There is a small chance that some rural communities could become cut off.”
