Blooming great start to flower show despite rain
EVEN rainy weather couldn’t put a dampener on the first day of the RHS Flower Show.
Hundreds of blossom enthusiasts will travel to Cardiff Castle’s Bute Park this weekend to take part in one of the most well-known garden shows in the UK.
This year, in line with Visit Wales’ theme for 2018, the event is celebrating the Year of the Sea, highlighting the sensational Welsh coastline with a host of related activities and features.
There are also more than 50 stands displaying spectacular spring blooms in the Floral Marquee and Plant Village, where visitors can stock up on plants.
Celebrity florist Jonathan Moseley and passionate plantsman Matthew Biggs are two of the names on the speakers lists, offering top tips alongside a host of the best British growers and nursery experts.
New this year is the Floristy Bench, which will sit alongside the Potting Bench demonstration area. Curated by local florist Sharon Dower, some of the UK’s top florists will show you how best to grow your own cut flower garden and how to display your blooms.
Additionally RHS is unveiling a new garden category as part of its Greening Great Britain campaign, which shows how everyday materials can be used to help transform spaces.
Show manager Anna Skibniewski-Ball said: “I am really excited to be managing the RHS Flower Show Cardiff 2018. Brimming with the colours and scents of spring, this is the perfect place for inspiration to get your garden blooming again.”
The RHS Flower Show Cardiff continues all weekend, from 10am to 5.30pm today and 10am to 4.30pm tomorrow.
