A GRANDMOTHER known as “nana” to both family and colleagues has been remembered for her love of Elvis and passion for walking.

The life of Christine Jean Davey has been celebrated following her death on March 26 at the age of 65.

Born in Splott, Cardiff, Christine attended Cathays Grammar School before completing a degree in maths and French.

From there the mum of four started a career as a personnel manager at telecommunications company Ascom.

After changing profession, Christine became well known in her role at Tesco in Cowbridge Road East.

Using her talent for numbers, she become an integral part of the shop’s accounting team over nearly a decade working for the branch.

Affectionately called “nana” by her workmates, Christine was known to come in on her days off and make tea for staff.

She will be greatly missed by her colleagues who attended her funeral on April 18 – with a large turnout paying testament to her popularity.

Of all of her achievements, Christine will be best remembered as a loving grandmother of six who enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family.

Her favourite pastimes included family holidays at her caravan in Tenby as well as dinners and sleepovers with her grandchildren at her home in Ely.

Her legacy will be continued through her grandchildren Lewis, Jessica, Patrick, Taylor, Xavier and Logan.

As a passionate fan of Elvis Presley, Christine made sure her family grew up knowing every one of his songs and travelled to Memphis to see his home.

During her spare time, Christine was also a loyal supporter of the Welsh national rugby team and was a season ticket holder for the Cardiff Blues.

With a love for the outdoors, her family will remember her as a keen walker, covering miles at a time.

Only months before her death Christine completed a hike up Pen y Fan with her niece Joanne.

Paying tribute, Christine’s son Leigh paid tribute to a happy and “bubbly” mother who “had time for everyone”.

He said: “She was just an amazing grandmother. She loved life and made a lot of people happy.”
