Nominations wanted for GP awards

-

PATIENTS are being urged to nominate a GP who has shown outstanding care for a prestigious award.

The Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) Wales is launching the GP of the Year award and the Practice Team of the Year award for 2018.

The college is encouraging patients who want exemplary care to be recognised to come forward and submit nominations.

The GP of the Year award recognises GPs for making a difference to patients’ lives and for providing an outstanding level of care.

The Practice Team of the Year award identifies a general practice team that goes above and beyond what might reasonably be expected.

It recognises GPs, practice managers, staff and the wide variety of healthcare professions that can make up a practice team.

Nominations can be made through an online nomination form or a postal nomination form. The deadline for nominations is Friday, July 27.

Finalists and those who nominated them will be invited to the RCGP Wales Gala Awards evening, held in November, where the winner will be announced.

Dr Rebecca Payne, RCGP Wales chairwoman, said: “It is important that we recognise good practice and celebrate those who go above and beyond.

“Spending time treating patients is what gets people into general practice and it is what keeps them there.

“I hope any patients who have come across outstanding care are able to submit nominations.”
