Sex offender arrested on primary school grounds

A CONVICTED sex offender has been arrested after being discovered working on the grounds of a primary school.

South Wales Police were called to Baden Powell Primary School in Cardiff on Thursday after concerns were raised about a man seen carrying out work on the site.

Police arrived at the school on Muirton Road in Tremorfa soon after receiving the call at about 1pm.

Stuart Kelleher, 30, from Pentwyn was arrested and has been recalled to prison for breaching his licence conditions.

He was also charged with breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will appear at Cardiff Magistrate­s’ Court on June 8.

A South Wales Police spokeswoma­n said: “South Wales Police acted promptly following concerns raised in Tremorfa, Cardiff, at around 1pm yesterday.

“A 30-year-old man from Pentywn, who was working in the area, was arrested and has this morning been recalled to prison for breaching licence conditions.

“He has also been charged with breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will appear at Cardiff Magistrate­s’ Court on June 8.

“No-one was harmed and no further offences were committed.

“We thank the public for their vigilance.”

On Thursday, a spokesman for Cardiff Council said: “South Wales Police attended the school today after concerns were raised about a man who was carrying out work on the school premises.

“The workers on this job were supervised at all times and they had no contact with pupils at any time.”
