THREE people have been taken to hospital after an alleged stabbing in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The ambulance service was called to the scene, at the shops on Countisbury Avenue near the junction of Burnham Avenue, in Llanrumney, Cardiff, at about 1am.

The three were taken to the University Hospital of Wales.

The entrance to Countisbury Avenue was yesterday sealed off by a police cordon and three police vehicles. Police, including a forensics officer, were examining the scene.

Another police cordon was put in place on Crediton Avenue and an officer was seen guarding the Old Vicarage flats.

A spokeswoman for the ambulance service said: “We conveyed three patients to Heath Hospital in the early hours of the morning about 1am.

“The incident happened in Llanrumney and we were alerted to it by the police.”

A South Wales Police spokeswoman said that two men have been arrested.

A Countisbury Avenue resident, who asked not to be named, said: “I was in bed last night (Saturday) and all I could hear was lots of shouting.

“One voice said ‘don’t do it, don’t be silly.’ It sounds like there was five or six of them.

“Then the police came, it was before 2am. I was in bed and could see all the lights flashing.”

Another local resident said: “I heard a lot of screaming, it was any time between 10 and 12 last night. I don’t know how many people there were but there was a lot of girls screaming in particular.”
