Flight cancelled after group ‘treated plane like nightclub’

A FLIGHT had to be cancelled and more than 140 people removed from the plane after a group were accused of treating the aircraft like “a nightclub”.

The easyJet flight from Bristol Airport to Prague had to be cancelled on Friday after a group of revellers were accused of causing a disturbance.

Avon and Somerset Police said a 32-year-old man from the Merthyr Tydfil area was arrested for a public order offence and has been released under investigation.

A spokesman for the force said: “A group of people were taken off the flight and one, a 32-year-old man, was later arrested for a public order offence.”

Police officer Nick Falconer, who is based in Weston-super-Mare, wrote on Twitter: “Pretty eventful shift yesterday, including supporting ASPAirport with my first incident airside!”

A statement from the airport’s policing team said: “Disappointing behaviour of a few who ruined a Friday flight from Bristol Airport not just for their mates, but for the 140+ whose flight was cancelled as a result of their follow-up actions. It’s an aircraft – not a nightclub.”

A spokeswoman for easyJet said: “easyJet was required to cancel flight EZY6267 from Bristol to Prague on Friday, June 1, due to a group of passengers behaving disruptively on board which caused a delay. The flight was further delayed and then cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. EasyJet’s crew did everything possible to minimise the disruption for our remaining passengers who have been given the option of transferring their flight free of charge or receiving a refund.”
