WEDDINGS Couple enjoy intimate wedding

-

The couple: Laura-Jayne Rhiannon Golby, 35, a mental health nurse, and Paul Winter, 38, an upholsterer. They live together in Llanharan. The venue: The couple tied the knot at Pontypridd Register office on Friday.

The wedding reception was an intimate affair held at Paul’s parents’ house for close family and friends.

Laura-Jayne and Paul are also having a party to celebrate at Llanharan Rugby Club later this month. How they met: Laura-Jayne said: “Paul and I met each other through a mutual friend, Sarah Nicholls.

“I was working with Sarah at the North Community Mental Health team in Bridgend.

“Sarah knew Paul through CrossFit Llantrisant.

“She frankly had enough of each of our dating failure stories and set out to play Cilla Black.

“Sarah told me there was a gentleman at her gym who would be perfect for me.

“Paul messaged about two weeks later and arranged to meet for a quick coffee to see if we liked each other.” The proposal: Laura said they had previously discussed the possibility of getting married.

One day when she was out shopping she spotted the perfect ring.

The shop owner encouraged her to try it on and it was a perfect fit.

“I later said to Paul if we did ever get engaged then this style of ring would be what I dream of,” added Laura-Jayne.

“Unfortunately, by the time Paul was free for me to show it to him the ring had been sold.”

Then one night in June 2017 the couple stayed up talking until the early hours.

Paul got down on one knee at home and asked her to be his wife and he had the dream engagement ring in hand.

The ring had indeed been sold... but Paul was the mystery buyer. The wedding: Laura-Jayne said: “The day all came together perfectly.

“Emma and Amy Nash did my make-up and hair.

“My mam booked Catherine Wiggins photography for the day.

“I wasn’t going to have an official photographer and I am so extremely grateful we were actually gifted Catherine by my parents.

“She has captured our wedding with outstanding photos.

“I walked down the aisle to the song Can’t Help Falling In Love With You by Twenty One Pilots.”

The couple were surrounded by their closest family and friends at the garden party.

It was very relaxed – the couple didn’t even have a strict plan for the day.

They chose not to have the traditional speeches or first dance. The honeymoon: The couple enjoyed a “minimoon” together in Devon after the wedding. They are also planning to travel to Mexico later in the year.
