Superhero pupil takes on challenge

-

A 10-YEAR-OLD Cardiff boy got his whole school involved in a challenge to raise money for charity – thanks to a superhero effort.

Dominic, a pupil at Ty Coryton School, in Whitchurch, took it upon himself to involve his whole school in the Big Schools Superhero Challenge in aid of the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital charity.

He has been at the school for two years and chose superheroes as a topic in school.

He explored different writing styles and created his own comic strip through pictures he had taken.

Dominic’s teacher, Jazmine McLellan, says: “The Noah’s Ark Charity’s fundraising activity for schools worked perfectly as it fitted in so well with the superhero topic.

“He was brilliant at helping me organise the event and all the pupils loved creating their own capes for the walk.”

So far the school, which has 19 pupils, has collected more than £160 in sponsorship for the walk.

Dominic said: “I would like to thank Jazmine McLellan and Jodie Seymour as none of this would be possible without them.

“I would like to thank the people who have sponsored us.

“I really enjoyed going on the walk with my friends from school.”

Ty Coryton is a school for children with autistic spectrum disorders.

Staff at the school are dedicated to helping their pupils become caring and thoughtful members of the community.
