TURKISH GIANTS IN FOR GRUJIC

-

GALATASARAY are hoping to trump Cardiff City in the race for Marko Grujic this summer.

Grujic enjoyed a successful loan spell during the second half of last season, and there were even suggestions this week that the Bluebirds were close to completing a return for the Serb ahead of their assault on the Premier League.

That comes despite reported interest from Milan, Lazio, Atalanta and Fulham.

But, according to Team Talk, Galatasaray, who can offer the lure of Champions League football, are nevertheless confident of signing the 22-year-old and could begin talks after the World Cup.

It’s a development that will worry Cardiff fans, although it’s worth remembering that Grujic turned down the chance to join Fatih Terim’s side in favour of a move to the Welsh capital in the last transfer window.

City target Abel Hernandez looks to be closing in on a free transfer to Leeds from Hull this summer.

The winger was one of many names to be linked with a move to the Cardiff City Stadium in this window, with Italian Serie A side Cagliari, Wolves and Aston Villa also believed to be keen.

Meanwhile, City have been linked with a move for Rangers midfielder Josh Windass.

The Scottish Sun claim Neil Warnock is set to submit a £1.5m bid to secure the services of Windass.

The attacking midfielder enjoyed a fine campaign with the Gers last time out, scoring 18 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions for the Ibrox outfit.

The 24-year-old son of former Hull striker Dean, signed a one-year contract extension with the Scottish giants earlier this year, meaning his current deal with Rangers does not expire until the summer of 2021.

Windass spent his youth career with Huddersfield Town but started his professional career with Accrington Stanley before moving to Scotland in the summer of 2016.
