BOUQUET OF THE WEEK Brave Alisha back in business after devastating fire

-

A SMALL business owner who refused to let a devastating van fire temper her ambitions is the latest recipient of our Bouquet of the Week.

Alisha Mohamed spent her life savings setting up a mobile sweet business last year and recently kitted out her first van.

But the 33-year-old from Grangetown in Cardiff was lucky to escape unharmed after the van caught fire while she was driving home from her first booking three weeks ago.

The dedicated entrepreneur refused to let the “devastating” accident slow her down and after members of the community rallied round to get her basic equipment, she has continued to honour her bookings.

She was nominated for an Echo Bouquet of the Week by Grangetown councillor Ashley Lister as a tribute to her determination and drive.

Alisha said: “I thought it was really sweet. I messaged Ashley to say he’s a sweetheart and it had brightened up my week no end.”

She added: “I have got events coming up in the next few weeks. I just have to keep moving but obviously I can only do what is in my budget.”

A fundraising event is being held at Canton Liberal Club on Thursday, July 5 to help Alisha get back on her feet.

Tickets are available for £5 from the club, with entertainment provided by several singers and a raffle.
