Tourist rushed to the aid of Benidorm gun victim

A WELSH holidaymak­er ran to the aid of a gunshot victim when three people were injured in a shooting outside a Benidorm nightclub.

Emergency crews swarmed to Calle Mallorca – the main strip in the popular Spanish resort – following reports of the incident near the Hippodrome disco-pub on Wednesday night.

One victim is believed to be British or Irish while another was thought to be Moroccan.

Nadine Davies described how she had been on the first night of her holiday with husband Lee when she found herself caught up in the incident.

The healthcare worker, from Mountain Ash, did not give a thought to her own safety when she rush to give first aid to one of the injured men.

When Nadine, who is a healthcare support worker at the Keir Hardie Health Park in Merthyr Tydfil, saw what had happened, she put her first aid training to good use and waited with the victim until an ambulance turned up.

Now she is trying to track down the man, who she believes is Irish and called Sean, to make sure he is all right.

Describing what happened, Nadine told us: “It was scary as I have never seen so many people running in fear.

“That is when I spotted a man had been shot and knew I had to help.

“When I got to him there were also two men there so I got them to elevate his leg and apply pressure to the wound. There was so much blood.

“All I could do was calm the man down and his very scared girlfriend.”
