Cardiff Bay beach set to be

-

IT’S one of the biggest attractions in the summer calendar and now Cardiff’s urban beach is back for summer 2018.

The Capital FM Cardiff Bay Beach Festival – to give it it’s full name – has a new waterfront location near Cardiff Bay Barrage and even more attractions.

It will be open to the public from Friday, July 6 (from 4pm) to Sunday, September 2 and it’s moved from Roald Dahl Plass to the newly developed event site on Barrage Walkway that was used for the Volvo Ocean Race Village.

The family-friendly beach has been created on the edge of the water using 500 tonnes of sand. Deckchairs and beach huts are provided as well as a free water splash area.

There will be more of a focus on teenagers this year with a couple of white knuckle experiences at the funfair as well as a roller coaster, big water spraying arches, movie nights, and a marquee area where visitors can enjoy the best in street food.

And you don’t have to worry about seeing a return of the Great British Summer – the rain – as there’s a large covered area with daily free live entertainment overlooked by a decking area with seating, surrounded by BBQ grills and sweet treats, while the Tropical Bay Bar will serve exotic cocktails.

While entry to the attraction is free, visitors will have to buy tokens to use the fairground rides.

What are the main attractions? Runaway Train ‘Mission Space’ (40m ride) ‘Pirate Party’ Funhouse Ghost Train The Twist ‘Crazy Frogs’ ride ‘Magic Mouse’ coaster fairground tall swing spinning roller
