Diners on cloud nine at pop up restaurant in the sky

-

THERE’S nothing more relaxing or enjoyable than visiting a fine dining restaurant and eating a three-course meal prepared for you by one of the country’s top chefs.

But when the restaurant is a platform suspended in mid air and you have to be strapped into your seats it’s understandable if you’re a little apprehensive.

However, it wasn’t the sheer drop to ground level that worried me most – what on earth would happen if I wanted to go to the loo during my meal, which lasts around an hour?

And that was my main concern in the run-up to boarding this “flight” for London In The Sky.

While I had felt pretty calm in the run-up to the flight, as I was being strapped into my seat the nerves started jangling a tad. I have no qualms about flying in an aeroplane at 30,000 feet, but how can you feel at ease when you’re so exposed?

Our chef, Lee Westcott, was already preparing the starters as the platform slowly started rising and before we knew it we were being served our sea trout along with a glass of wine. The first mistake I made was looking over the edge and discovering exactly how far from the ground we were. As I
