WILL THE BOSS BE ABLE TO SEAL ANY MORE DEALS AHEAD OF DEADLINE DAY?

-

CARDIFF City are preparing a EUR3m bid for Besiktas striker Alvaro Negredo, according to reports in Turkey.

Following the Bluebirds’ 2-1 defeat to Real Betis on Saturday, Neil Warnock re-iterated his desire to bring in a forward before Thursday’s 5pm transfer deadline.

When asked after the match if a new striker was on the agenda, the Yorkshireman responded: “Yes I think so. We didn’t play with one today and I thought we did alright.

“We had two smaller lads and I thought we played quite well doing that. We had a bit more threat and movement so who knows.”

And Turkish media outlet Haber Turk claim former Man City frontman Negredo is on the Bluebirds’ shopping list.

The forward joined Besiktas on a three-year deal from Valencia in 2017 following a loan spell with Middlesbrough.

Negredo - who won Euro 2012 with Spain - netted eight goals in 36 appearances in all competitions last term and has a wealth of Premier League experience from his time with Man City and Boro.

He won the Premier League and League Cup with Man City during the 2013/14 campaign while he tasted Copa del Rey success in 2010 during his time with Sevilla.

Negredo is thought to be one of Besiktas’ highest earners, and the Turkish media claim the club are eager to shift him off their wage bill.

And while the reported transfer fee - albeit for a 32-year-old appears low for a man of Negredo’s experience, his wages could prove to be a stumbling block in any potential move to the Welsh capital.

Meanhwhile, Omar Bogle is close to completing a loan move from Cardiff to Championship side Birmingham City.
