Wait is over for new Mazda CX-3

-

PUNTERS who’ve been waiting patiently for the latest versions of the Mazda CX-3 to arrive at their local dealers will be able to get their hands on one at the end of this month.

Having made its global debut at the New York Motor Show in March, the latest, 2018 CX-3 is set to go on sale on August 31, and UK pricing and specifications have just been announced.

There’s a simplified eight model line-up that includes just a single, two wheel drive diesel variant powered by a new SKYACTIV-D 1.8-litre diesel engine.

But, as before, the bulk of the range is powered by improved versions of the two-litre SKYACTIV-G petrol engine, which is available in 121ps and 150ps power outputs and with either two or four wheel drive.

Prices start at £18,995 for the CX-3 121ps two wheel drive SE Nav+ and rise to £24,995 for the CX-3 150ps AWD Sport Nav+ Auto.

Options include a £650 safety pack which is available on higher grade models and includes adaptive LED headlights, blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert, rear smart city brake support with driver attention alert.

Visually, the latest model is distinguished by a revised grille, but it’s inside that buyers will notice the biggest changes where the adoption of an electric parking brake has led to a redesigned centre console which now flows into the dashboard.

The multimedia touch screen has been moved forward for improved usability and there’s a padded armrest with a console storage box underneath.

Further improvements have been made to the front seats while the rear seats now feature a central armrest with built in cup holders.

Other new features include upgraded door sill trims, thicker sound insulation in the doors and headlining and enhanced rear glazing.

Three trim levels are available – SE Nav+, SE-L Nav+ and Sport Nav+ – and all but the entry-level 121ps SE Nav+ feature front LED fog lights and rear privacy glass, while Sport Nav+ cars have 18-inch silver alloy wheels, LED headlights and rear lights and chrome effect front bumper and side trim garnishes.

A limited edition run of special edition models will also be available from October 1.

Just 500 examples of the CX-3 Sport Black+ will be produced, featuring a black leather interior, black roof spoiler and mirror caps and metallic paint.
