BOUQUET OF THE WEEK ‘An amazing lady who loves cats’

-

THE founder of a cat rescue charity based in Cardiff which rescues and rehomes unwanted and stray cats is the latest Bouquet of the Week winner.

Roslynd Thomas, 63, set up Rozmogz, a charity that looks after up to 70 cats and kittens that works with foster carers to take in hundreds of animals each year.

It is run entirely by volunteers and the charity relies on donations and the support of fund-raisers.

Roslynd is retired and used to work as a kitchen assistant. Now she spends her time finding homes and caring for stray cats.

She said: “I’ve been doing this for five or six years now and we take in unwanted cats. It’s a big challenge but it is rewarding when you help many animals.

“I’ve been rescuing cats for over 15 years when working for another charity. We rely solely on donations and fund raisers so it is tough.

“Vet bills are always high, but we have a fantastic group of volunteers and always manage to pull through. We always find a way.”

Lorraine Smiles, a volunteer at the charity nominated her for her outstanding work and says she deserves recognition.

She said: “She is an amazing lady who devotes her whole life to rescuing abandoned, homeless and pregnant cats or kittens. She is out in all weathers making sure her animals are safe, fed and watered. She hates to turn any cat or kitten away, even when full to bursting, she will, if she can, find a little space.

Lorraine added: “Every month we need to raise at least £3,000 for vets bills, food, litter etc. And at the moment we have more than 70 cats and kittens with Roslynd and with foster mums who are all part of the rescue. “She is definitely one crazy cat lady.” To find out more about the charity, please visit their social media page.
