A LOVING dad and devoted fiancé has been remembered for his “larger-thanlife personality” following his death in a crash earlier this week.

Simon Dodd, 53, from Trethomas, Caerphilly, died in the three-car crash near Hay-on-Wye on Monday afternoon.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash on the B4350 between Hay-onWye and Three Cocks.

In a statement released through Dyfed-Powys Police, Mr Dodd’s family said: “We are absolutely devastated by the tragic loss of Simon. He was a devoted fiancé and loving dad to his children.

“He lived life to the full and will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality.

“Simon was a huge football fan and a keen Manchester United supporter.

“The family would like to thank everyone for their kind wishes that mean so much at this awful time and we appreciate your continued support.”

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Mr Dodd’s family, with the page saying “this would be a nice way to show love and support”.

The crash happened at a section known locally as Sheep House Corner at around 3.40pm on Monday, September 3.

Three vehicles were involved – a black Vauxhall Corsa, a green Range Rover and a blue Vauxhall Zafira.

It is thought the Vauxhall Corsa, which Mr Dodd was driving, was travelling towards Three Cocks, while the other two cars were travelling in the opposite direction towards Hay-on-Wye.

A passenger travelling in the Range Rover was taken to hospital with serious injuries and was described as being in a “stable condition” yesterday.

Anyone who saw the crash or was travelling along the stretch of road at the time is asked to call Dyfed-Powys Police on 101 and quote reference DP-20180903-224.
