Drug dealer found with heroin in his underpants

-

A MAN who dealt drugs from the street outside his house was jailed after heroin was found hidden in his underwear.

Rhys Morgan, 41, of Dyffryn Gardens in Rhydyfelin, Pontypridd, was caught after police officers grew suspicious of him standing outside his home.

The officers watched as Morgan walked out of his house and stood alone in the street. After a short time another man walked over to him and they shook hands. The officers were suspicious of his behaviour and moved in.

He was arrested on September 11 last year after being stopped and searched by the plain clothes officers just a few steps from his home.

Morgan was caught carrying wraps of heroin, £315 in cash and three mobile phones and was arrested at the scene.

Another plastic bag of heroin was found concealed in his underwear after he was searched at a police station.

Scales, a fake-money detector, bottles of methadone and heroin worth more that £3,000 was seized shortly after, during a search of his home.

An examination of his phone attributed lots of messages to drug deals - code words were used by Morgan and his customers in a bid to mask their illegal transactions.

Rhys Morgan was found guilty following a trial earlier this year.

He was convicted of possessing heroin with intent to supply and was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday to four years in prison.

Detective Sergeant Tim Jones said: “Rhys Morgan was dealing a significant amount of heroin to people in and around Rhydyfelin and the misery that he inflicted cannot be underestimated.

“Heroin destroys lives and families and it has a devastating impact on communities - those who fuel that must be punished. Rhys Morgan will now have plenty of time in prison to reflect on his choices.

“I would like to provide assurances to the public that we will be looking to seize any of his ill-gotten gains under the Proceeds of Crime Act.”

Anybody who suspects drug dealing should call police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
