Restaurant chain to open new venue at Quay location

-

A POPULAR bar and restaurant has confirmed it is opening at a second location in the Welsh capital.

Cosy Club, which already has a venue in the centre of the city, is set to open its new restaurant in Cardiff Bay, operating out of a space in Mermaid Quay.

The restaurant will take on a 15-year lease in the former Strada unit - a 4,435sq ft space that also includes a 500sq ft outside seating area in Tacoma Square, on the waterfront promenade.

The second Cosy Club venue is set to open next summer.

Amber Wood, managing director of Cosy Club, said: “We’re excited to be opening our second Cosy Club in Cardiff next year.

“It’s the first city where we have decided to open a second Cosy Club and this is all thanks to our fantastic success at St David’s Centre on the Hayes.

“Cardiff Bay is a prime location and we’re looking forward to bringing the best of what Cosy Club has to offer to Mermaid Quay.”

Schroder UK Real Estate Fund (‘SREF’) signed the deal to introduce Cosy Club to Mermaid Quay.

It’s the latest addition to Mermaid Quay, following the recent announcement that Everyman Cinemas will be opening its first Welsh boutique cinema on the development.

Harry Pickering, investment manager for SREF, said: “Welcoming Cosy Club to Mermaid Quay is testament to SREF’s repositioning of the scheme and the confidence that occupiers have in our vision for the bay-side location.

“Cosy Club’s enviable position, on Tacoma Square, overlooking the waterfront, is perfectly placed to benefit from the public realm works that are taking place throughout the asset.

“We look forward to announcing further lettings as more occupiers recognise the potential of this unrivalled location.”
