Ground record disappears as RGC get back on track

-

RGC head coach Mark Jones praised his side’s determination as they returned to winning ways at Llandovery.

Afon Bagshaw, Danny Cross, Dion Jones and a penalty try set the North Walians on their way.

And 10 points from the boot of Billy McBryde ensured they left Church Bank with maximum points.

In doing so they also became the first visiting side to win at the ground since April 2017.

“We did ourselves scant justice in losing to Merthyr but the boys were determined to get it right today,” said a delighted Jones.

“As well as we attacked to get a bonus point, the defence must take huge credit in shutting down the Llandovery backs.

“I thought that we had the better of the contact area and that is the key.”

Aaron Warren scored twice for the Drovers along with a Ricky Guest try.

Jack Maynard kicked three conversions and a penalty, but this was their second straight defeat.

Backs coach Simon Davies said: “The penalty count was depressingly huge in their favour, so we will certainly need to look carefully at our lack of discipline, which up to now has been so good.”
