‘Disgusted’ mum’s fast food shock

-

A WOMAN has spoken of her disgust after biting into her McDonald’s burger to find something unpleasant in the middle hanging out.

Laura Twomey, aged 26, from Cymmer, attended the Port Talbot outlet with her partner and went through the drive-thru.

She wasn’t sure what it was at the time, but said she almost bit into it before noticing just before she did, although the staff seem to think it was a blood vessel.

“It seemed normal until I tasted something slimy and when I looked down, that’s what I saw,” she said.

“I thought it was raw at first. I was violently sick as soon as I saw this. Never have I had a problem with the chicken here before.

“Luckily I felt something and that’s when I looked down Not only will I not be going to McDonald’s again, I honestly think I wouldn’t be able to stomach chicken again.”

Miss Twomey says she approached the staff and asked for a full refund, which they declined, and said they had to send the food off for investigation purposes.

The 26-year-old said she got in touch with the head office and after explaining the situation, was offered a £5 food voucher.

She added: “I won’t be accepting the food voucher.

“All I wanted was a refund and an investigation so this doesn’t happen again.

“My partner also had the same problem and didn’t end up eating the burger either. Luckily my son had an ice cream, so he wasn’t affected.”

A McDonald’s spokesperson, said: “Food quality and safety are of the utmost importance to us.

“We place great emphasis on quality control and follow rigorous standards in order to avoid imperfections. We’re sorry that this wasn’t up to standard, and are aware of the customer’s complaint.

“When they returned their meal we provided an apology as well as a replacement order and full refund, which was declined by the customer.

“Our customer services team is now in touch with them.”
