DRESSED to impress

IT WAS a super-starry turnout for the Elle Women In Hollywood dinner this week. The A-listers donning their gladrags for the glittering event included Jennifer Lopez, Keira Knightley, Sandra Bullock and Angela Bassett.

Among those being honoured at the shindig which saw all manner of looks, from mini dresses to ballgowns to trouser suits, were Sarah Paulson, Charlize Theron and Lady Gaga.

Sarah, who appears in the November issue of the magazine stuck to her usual quirky formula, opting for a white and green Calvin Klein dress with a fringed top and full leather skirt.

It is a very bold look but the American Horror Story star gets away with it and we love the striking coral-toned make-up, great to see someone making such bold choices on the red carpet.

After weeks in huge frocks promoting A Star is Born, Lady Gaga switched things up for the Elle dinner opting for a baggy Marc Jacobs suit teamed with severe pulled-back her and zero jewellery but the heavy contouring to her face and plump pout balances out the androgynous look.

Also mixing things up was Charlize. The 43-year-old is Elle’s November cover star. Her blazer, sheer shirt and skirt combo was all Christian Dior and while we don’t normally approve of ‘shoulder robing’ (jackets on shoulders), it creates a nice contrast here.
