Austin is so smiley and happy
Baby’s name: Austin John Robson. Date and place of birth: April 11 at 11.59pm at the University Hospital of Wales.
Weight: 5lbs 12.5oz.
Parents: Mum Lucy Young, 32, is an event manager from Cardiff, and dad, Ian Robson, 35, is also an event manager from Sunderland.
Mum’s story: “Unfortunately I had hyperemesis gravidarum (I did with my first-born too) and I was unable to leave my bed for three months and continued to feel and be sick throughout my pregnancy.
“I didn’t get much of a chance to develop food cravings as I didn’t have much of an appetite, I did however eat a lot of Granny Smith apples and pineapples.
“I was really relaxed about the birth and was hoping for a water birth until I found out that the baby’s growth was slowing down and at 37 weeks, following a growth scan, I was told that I would be induced the following day.
“Then major worry and anxiety kicked in – it was such a different experience compared to my daughter’s very natural birth.
“We didn’t know what we were having, and we had leaned more towards thinking the baby was a girl due mostly to the sickness and our girl-filled families. It was a lovely surprising moment when Ian told me that we had a son.
“He wasn’t named for 10 days as we had discussed girls names more and we really struggled to agree.
“Weirdly, Austin was our agreed boys name before we even had babies.
“His middle name is my dad’s and Ian’s late grandad’s name which is lovely.
“It was amazing to take Austin home to meet his big sister, Annabelle, who loved him straight away and has not stopped kissing him ever since.
“Austin is the total opposite in every way to Annabelle except for the fact that they are both so smiley, happy and beautiful.
“We feel so fortunate and blessed to have two beautiful children. Austin is the absolute perfect addition to our family.
“Time is going by even more quickly than it did when we had Annabelle so we are doing our best to treasure every moment with our perfect baby.”
