Abusive shouting from Wales fans was pathetic

-

MY grandsons and I have been Wales football season ticket-holders for a number of years, firstly through the Stronger Together and now the Red Wall campaigns.

We attended the Wales versus Spain game with my son and brother who went as a one-off. Sport, like theatre, cinema, music, etc. is part of the entertainment industry. If you don’t fancy a film, play or match you are not obliged to go to them.

Because people don’t go to every game doesn’t mean they can’t go to the Spain game. The idiots shouting abuse at the non-regulars were pathetic. Do they think they have a divine right to call themselves Wales fans? Whatever happened to Stronger Together?

As for playing the game at the Principality Stadium, it made sense. Matches against the soccer superpowers are obviously too big to put on at the City of Cardiff stadium (capacity: 30,000+) so you play them at an arena that holds 70,000+. It’s not rocket science. The FAW are to be commended on the ticket prices, something the WRU could learn from.

As for the contest itself, it wouldn’t have made any difference if it was played at Roath Park or Wembley Stadium, Spain were a far superior team to a young Wales side, who I felt did us proud with their efforts. Remember, Spain recently defeated World Cup finalists Croatia 6-0.

In future, can our fans stop getting worked up about which piece of grass the game is played on or abusing non-members of the Red Wall and get behind our team and be Stronger Together? Kevin Wilkinson Rumney, Cardiff

Our costly Royals

THE possible financial consequences of these benighted isles’ exit from Europe pale into insignificance compared to the horrendous costs of the expansion of the royal menagerie.

The millions blagged from the public purse for last Friday’s pairing are immediately followed by the news that another Royal is on the way.

Ironically the announcement was made in Australia, a country only too well aware of the consequences of out-of-control breeding by a particular species. The mega expansion of the rabbit population there during the Twenties has left such a frightening memory that even today if you whisper “what’s up doc?” in an Aussie’s ear he will turn an ashen grey colour and ask for a large brandy. Why the wait?

SO our Prime Minister Theresa May has said we may have to wait longer before we exit the clammy grip of our European masters.

May I remind our leaders that the electorate of the United Kingdom voted to leave the Glee Club by a big enough majority, which proved a greater degree of discontent in our
