SICARIO 2 (15)

THIS comes close to recapturing the nail-biting tension of the first film, which was nominated for three Oscars and benefited greatly from Emily Blunt’s presence as a vengeful FBI agent.

Her absence is Isabela Moner’s gain, who gives a striking performance as a young woman, pictured left, who arrogantly believes her family ties offer her immunity from punishment befitting her bad behaviour.

It lacks some of the verve of Denis Villeneuve’s first instalment but none of the raw firepower. Benicio del Toro and Joshn Brolin star.

■ Download/stream from October 22, available from October 29 on DVD/Blu-ray.

JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM (12)

DIRECTED at a gallop by Spanish filmmaker JA Bayona, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is a slick yet soulless greatest hits of monstermunching mayhem, bolted together with overblown set pieces.

A new dinosaur cross-breed fails to make an impact but there are undeniable thrills and entrails spills, and the carnage shows flashes of directorial brio, but the blood-curdling screams are largely second-hand. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard reprise their roles for this sequel.

■ Download/stream from October 19, also available from October 29 on DVD/Blu-ray.

TAG (15)

INSPIRED by a true story, Tag is a bad-taste comedy which sups from the same tankard as The Hangover. A group of competitive friends have spent every month of May, since they were nine, playing tag.

Ed Helms and Jeremy Renner, left, are hysterical during one fight sequence in a shopping mall as the no-holds-barred game gets out of hand, while Isla Fisher seizes her scenes by the nether portions.

The script boasts a decent hit rate and the film’s heart is in the right place.

■ Download/stream from October 22, from November 5 on DVD/Blu-ray.
