■■ Popular Welsh marine artist Nick John Rees is returning to Cowbridge in the Vale of Glamorgan with a new exhibition following the success of his sell-out exhibition earlier in the year. It will feature more than 40 original paintings plus a range of signed limited edition prints. Much of the work features views from along the Heritage Coast but there is also work from further afield. The exhibition is at 23b High Street until October 28 and will be open every day. ■■Llanishen Baptist Church hosts a friendship hour every second and fourth Monday of the month, with speakers on a variety of topics, all adult age groups. Starting at 7.45pm, refreshmen­ts following the meeting, £2 fee per session. The next meeting is on Monday, October 22, when Mike Club will talk about the escape of German prisoners of war from Island Farm.

■■St Philip Evans Union of Catholic Mothers is holding a coffee morning on Tuesday, October 23, 10amnoon, at St Philip Evans Church Hall, Llanedeyrn Drive, Llanedeyrn, Cardiff. Tickets £2.50 or pay at the door. Event to include tombola, cake, Christmas gifts and nearly new stalls. Everyone welcome.

■■Friends of Hailey Park are carrying out conservati­on work on Sunday, October 28, and Sunday, November 11 (the last one for 2018).
