Food and tech hub for Goodsheds

- CHRIS PYKE Business Reporter chris.pyke@walesonline.co.uk

THE latest images of the Goodsheds development in Barry show the scale of the project.

The new development will further the credentials of the Welsh town as a food destination following Hang Fire Southern Kitchen being named the best restaurant in the UK.

The Goodsheds is across the road from the Pumphouse, where Hang Fire and Academy Espresso Bar are located, and was also developed by Simon Baston.

Mr Baston, who was also instrumental in the redevelopment of the Tramshed in Cardiff, plans to put a business tech hub in the brick building, also know as Gwalia Buildings, as well as a high end restaurant and a brewery/wine bar.

On the adjacent land to the heritage brick railway building Mr Baston is looking to create a number of units out of 50 shipping containers.

On the ground floor there will be units featuring a number of well-known local pop-up brands. These include: Meat & Greek, Bearded Taco, Mr Croquewich, Dusty Knuckle, Hangfire, and Brother Thai.

On weekends the outdoor play area will be used as an outdoor cinema.

The top floor of the shipping container unit will be a bar run by the nearby Academy Espresso Bar.

Mr Baston was also behind the Jennings building in Porthcawl that has been shortlisted for the RICS Awards Grand Final. The building is listed in the Regenration category of the building awards.
