Star Baker: 2 Hollywood handshakes: 1 RUBY received Paul’s handshake early on, in Cake Week (episode 2) when Paul praised the 29-year-old for her chocolate collar cake, in the showstopper challenge.

However, the project manager was one of three contestants to receive a handshake in the second episode – much to the dismay of viewers.

The other bakers were fellow finalist Rahul and Dan Beasley-Harling, who hung up his chef’s hat in Pastry Week.

Ruby, who hails from London, said she was happy with the handshake but she had really wanted to impress Prue Leith.

Ouch...

Best moment:

VEGAN Week was a bit of a disaster for Ruby. She was left in tears when her beautiful chocolate, lemon and coconut cake collapsed.

Despite almost quitting the show following the cake tumble, Ruby came out on top in the following episode in Danish Week.

She dazzled Paul and Prue with her apricot and frangipane kagekone

– a cake, shaped like a girl or boy, traditionally eaten at birthdays and anniversaries.

Chances of winning:

IN THE semi-final, Ruby was crowned Star Baker for the second time, thanks to her impressive array of Parisian delights in Patisserie Week.

Taking the top spot one week before the final puts her on a good footing with the judges.
