Midwife, friend and ‘total angel’
THE winner of this week’s Bouquet of the Week is Kerry Ansell, who has been described by a friend as a “total angel”.
Kerry, from Whitchurch, is a midwife and a mother of two. But despite her busy schedule, she still found time to support her friend Sandie McDonnell throughout her difficult pregnancy.
Sandie, who nominated Kerry for the award, said: “I’ve been friends with Kerry for a very long time, and when I gave birth to my twin girls on September 10, she went above and beyond to offer support and just be there for me.
“She is herself a midwife, but it wasn’t her job to look after me.
“Throughout my pregnancy, I had high blood pressure and she was always checking that I was okay and making sure I got the right advice.
“After the birth of the twins, I suffered quite badly with various health conditions but she made sure I was okay and offered support.
“She would pick my son up from school, give him his dinner and just do little things to make everything easier.
“She was incredible and I can’t thank her enough. I just really want her to be recognised for the great work she did.”
On receiving the news that she had won the award, Kerry said: “I’ve known Sandie for about five years, and I know she would have done the same for me.
“She was really ill during her pregnancy and was unwell afterwards. I just did what I could to make things easier for her.
“I have two children aged three and six, and my son is the same age as her son, so he also loved having his friend round for dinner.
“I just wanted to help her as much as I could and make sure she had time to recover.”
