■ Rumney Townswomens Guild is holding a meeting at 2pm on Monday, November 5, at Rumney Baptist Church, Tyr-Y-Sarn Road, Rumney, CF3 3BD. New members and visitors welcome. ■On Wednesday, November 7, the Cardiff & District Chrysanthemum and Dahlia Society will be holding their annual Late Chrysanthemum Show at the Scout Hall in Heol y Bont, Rhiwbina, at 2.30pm, until 5pm. Admission is free.
■ Roath Local History Society’s next lecture is Cardiff Naturalists Society, 150 Years of Nature and Conservation. The speaker will be Andy Kendall, the 113th President of the Society, who will outline their history, referencing four past presidents with direct links to Roath. The meeting will be on Thursday, November 8, in the St Andrews church hall (corner of Marlborough Road and Wellfield Road). Commence at 7.45pm with complimentary refreshments, followed by the talk at 8pm. Visitors welcome and there is ample parking diagonally opposite. ■Cardiff High School car boot sale takes place on Sunday, November 11. 11.30am start for sellers (£7 per vehicle), noon for buyers. Refreshments and toilets in Ty Celyn.
■ Penylan Craft group and WI have put up their handmade poppies in Roath Park to remember all those who have died in conflict around the world. A collecting box has been placed in the cafe next door. Please support this cause and the hard work of the craft ladies. People can further support them and St Andrew’s Church, Wellfield Road, by attending “All Things Christmas” on Saturday, December 15, at the church hall. From 11am until 3pm, also supporting Guide Dogs for the Blind.
