Displays will light up Bonfire Night

It’s almost Bonfire Night and there are plenty of organised displays in the area, including the return of Sparks in the Park in Cardiff. Here is a round-up of some of them...

REMEMBER all that glorious sun we had recently?

Well, forget that. Now’s the time to start thinking about cosy nights in, wrapping up warm and of course – where you’ll be spending Bonfire Night.

And luckily, Cardiff’s massive fireworks event, Sparks In The Park, is back – and tickets are on sale now.

There are two displays – one for the youngsters and the main display later on – so you can guarantee there’s something for all the family.

So if you’re planning on heading down to the Welsh capital to see the sky spectacula­rly lit up at the annual event, here’s what you need it know:

When is it?

Sparks In The Park is returning to Cardiff tomorrow.

This year, there’ll be two displays. The event opens at 4.30pm. The junior display is scheduled to start at 5.45pm, while the main display is set for 7pm.

It’s expected to end at around 8.30pm.

Where is it?

Organised by Cardiff Round Table, Wales’ largest firework display will be held at Blackweir Fields, Bute Park, Cardiff.

How much does it cost?

There are three types of tickets available.

Children under three can attend for free, while a child’s ticket (for ages three to 16) costs £5. Super early bird tickets are available for £3.75.

Adult tickets cost £10, but there’s also an early bird ticket available which costs £7.50.

There’s also a family ticket that costs £18.75 (for an early bird ticket) or £25 (regular price). A family ticket includes two adults and two children or one adult and three children.

How to get tickets

Tickets to Sparks in the Park can be bought from eventbrite.

Tickets will be scanned at the entrance gates. Printed tickets, or e-tickets saved to smart phones will both secure entrance to the event.

Food and drink

There will be a number of food and drinks stalls at the event. Organisers say you won’t be able to bring in your own alcohol but there will be stalls selling alcohol at the event.

Where to park

There is no specific parking for the event. but there are a number of car parks in the city centre.

Sophia Gardens

Where: The Glamorgan Cricket Stadium, Sophia Gardens, Cardiff.

When: Monday from 6pm. Sophiawork­s will be a firework spectacula­r with live music, funfair and food and drink.

Cardiff Golf Club

Where: Sherborne Avenue, Cyncoed, CF23 6SJ.

When: Sunday from 6pm. Shockwave Pyrotechni­cs take the reins of the fireworks display and attendees will even have a chance to press the “golden button” to set off the display if they buy a raffle ticket on entry.

Whitchurch Golf Club

Where: Pantmawr Road, Whitchurch, CF14 7TD.

When: Monday from 7.30pm. This is a ticketed event and has all the good old-fashioned snacks like burgers and hot dogs on sale. Call 029 2052 9877 for more details.

Celtic Manor

Where: Coldra Woods, Caerleon, Newport NP18 1HQ.

When: Tomorrow.

See the fireworks fill the air over the hotel resort. Tickets are £7 for children, £11 for adults. There will be live music and entertainm­ent, children’s funfair rides and a licensed bar.

Caerphilly Castle

Where: Caerphilly Castle, but best viewing areas are Crescent Road and Dafydd Williams Park. When: Tomorrow from 7pm. See the spectacula­r fireworks light up the sky above one of Wales’ castles.

Where: Barry Island. When: Tomorrow from 6pm. The Barry Rotary Club has organised the firework display at Barry Island once again.

Where: Penarth Athletic Club, Lavernock Road.

When: Monday from 6pm.

Join the Penarth Fireworks Fiesta. Gates open at 6pm and the show starts at 7pm.
