THE siblings of a 27-year-old man who died after a motor- home fell on him have paid tribute to their “precious soul” brother.

Tomas Shackson became trapped under the vehicle on Monday, October 8.

He was taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff where he was placed in intensive care, but despite the best efforts of hospital staff he died on Saturday, October 13, as a result of his injuries.

His sister Jessica and brother Lee have set up a fundraising page in honour of their brother.

In a moving tribute, Jessica thanked all the staff who cared for their brother in his final moments.

She wrote: “We lost a precious soul, my little brother Tomas Shackson in a horrible accident.

“He was loved by so many and will be sorely missed to say the least.

“As a thank you to the people that looked after Tom following the accident we collected donations for the critical care unit of Heath Hospital at the funeral.

“Thank you so much to those who attended and to those who donated.

“We can’t believe the amazing support we’ve all received from everyone and can’t thank you enough. In case some people didn’t get the chance to donate and would like to, Lee and I created a GoFundMe Page.

“Please feel free to share this not only for Tom but for the amazing, hard working and truly caring people at critical care, Heath Hospital Cardiff.”

Tributes that have poured in for Tomas, who died after the accident on Morgan Street, in Llanbradach, Caerphilly.

A huge amount of people have posted about their sadness and the high regard in which they held Mr Shackson.

Lynne Barrett-Lee, a close family friend, said: “Tom was the loveliest of young men. And, yes, I know everyone says that. What else would anyone say when a young life is lost? But it’s also true.

“Tom was gentle and thoughtful and considerate, always. He was strong and he was capable. He was loyal and very kind.

“It was no surprise to me to know that, on the day of his departure, the whole ITU corridor was almost impassable, so clogged was it with people – not just his family, but also his many, many friends. He was young, strong and capable, loyal, thoughtful and kind.”
