A POPULAR Cardiff pizza restaurant has taken to social media to hit out at customers who turn up there with their own food.

Dusty Knuckle, which is based in the courtyard of The Printhaus on the capital’s Llandaff Road, tweeted after several punters were spotted whipping out home-prepared salads, pasta dishes and even desserts after having booked tables at the outdoor venue.

“Okay – here is an update for everyone who needs reminding of what a restaurant’s first goal is,” read the miffed tweet.

“(It’s) the provision of food and fab customer service. A welcome break from cooking in the comfort of your own home.”

The tweet then went on to list the baffling number of of ready-made food items “a number of guests” have been rumbled bringing with them on an evening out.

“WE ARE A RESTAURANT, regardless of our alfresco appearance,” the message continued. “Deary me...”

Dusty Knuckle founder Phill Lewis says he can’t believe some of the examples he’d seen in the last couple of weeks.

“One person got out a pasta dish and, when questioned by staff, replied, ‘Well, you don’t have pasta on the menu,’” he said.

“You just feel like saying, ‘That’s because this is a pizza restaurant – maybe if you want pasta try going to an Italian instead.

“Then there was another lady who whipped out an entire range of desserts from under her table. I don’t think she was far off asking if we had any spoons she could use too. She was quite outraged when we told her ‘no’ and left in a huff.”

And Phill’s incredulous response was shared by other foodie figureheads across South Wales.

“At the start of 2018 the biggest bugbear for a lot of businesses was people ringing to make reservations and then not showing up – now it’s this,” Phill added.

“I just find the whole thing really odd – like me going down the pub and taking in my own six pack with me.”
