Vehicles targeted at mountain car park

POLICE are investigat­ing after a number of cars were broken into while their owners climbed the highest mountain in south Wales.

Various items were taken from a “number of vehicles” that were parked in the Pont ar Daf car park, around six miles south of Brecon in Powys.

The spot is the main car park and access point for those who climb Pen Y Fan, one of the tallest summits in the whole of Wales.

But on one afternoon in September, vehicles parked at the foot of the mountain were broken into.

Police say various items were stolen from inside the vehicles and have released a picture of a man they wish to speak to in relation to the incident.

A spokeswoma­n for DyfedPowys Police said: “Our officers in Brecon are investigat­ing a number of thefts from vehicles which were parked in the Pont ar Daf car park, Storey Arms at 12pm Wednesday, September 5, 2018.

“The vehicles had been broken into and various items were taken.

“Officers would like to speak to the man pictured as he may have informatio­n that could help with their inquiries.

“If you recognise the person in the photos, or believe you may be the person pictured, or have any informatio­n relating to this incident please contact PC 884 James Page in Brecon by calling 101 and quoting ref: DPP/3507/05/09/2018/02/C.”
