Pub reopens after makeover

A POPULAR pub in Cardiff has reopened after a £250,000 refurbishm­ent.

The Royal George on Mackintosh Place in Roath has opened its doors after a makeover by pub owners Punch.

The pub now features a dedicated games area and “comfortabl­e and vibrant” seating spaces for customers to enjoy food, drink and entertainm­ent.

The fresh design also includes new ping pong, foosball and pool tables, as well as feature walls and fun furniture pieces.

The pub will be open from noon every day.

Publicans Clare and Andrew Cox have been running the pub since August this year.

Clare said that it was important the pub kept its local identity, and was looking forward to welcoming customers new and old back to the pub.

“I’m thrilled with the investment and can’t wait for people to come and see what we’ve done with the place,” she said.

“I believe we have created a vibrant, fun and welcoming place for our customers to enjoy.

“We have had great support from Punch in re-launching the pub and we have lots of plans to make sure the Royal George goes from strength to strength from here.”

“The investment here sites such as The Royal is fantastic and is sure to meet the demands of the modern day customer.
