PAUL O’GRADY: FOR THE LOVE OF DOGS ITV, 8pm

IS THERE a more showbiz sight than Paul O’Grady and Jennifer Saunders walking their dogs together? Especially when one of the dogs is in a pram.

The British comedians met up at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, caught on camera in this week’s episode.

Dog lover Jennifer, who admits she’s addicted to visiting Battersea and is always bringing friends down there to try to re-home dogs, is walking her own dog Annie. But she may well be in the market for a new pet.

Meanwhile Paul is giving injured dog Florence some fresh air in a pushchair. After two hit-and-run accidents and with a nasty break in her front leg, Florence is still recuperating from an operation.

“I’m hoping to be re-homed pretty soon,” jokes Jennifer. “Don’t hold your breath,” quips Paul. “I’ve been here seven years, not a flicker of interest.”

Aside from the celebrities, Florence is the star of tonight’s episode.

After being hit by two cars and left with terrible injuries, the pug terrier cross is given plenty of TLC by Paul and the Battersea teams.

Someone reads her a bedtime story and later on Paul even cosies up with her in the kennel and they listen to classical music.

Elsewhere, Paul meets Spike, an English bulldog with breathing difficulties – and a foot and shoe fetish and nine-week-old spaniel pup George was handed in for keeping his owners up all night with his constant crying.

Paul, who has nine dogs, says: “Definitely no more. Although how can I resist this? O’Grady, stay strong.”
